Chiquita is a former employee of Illinois’ workforce who has first-hand experience with workplace mistreatment based on her race and gender.

Influenced by her own experience of workplace discrimination and injustice, she practices in the area of employment law. She concentrates her practice on protecting whistleblowers and those who have experienced workplace discrimination, harassment, and retaliation based on a protected class. She also represents those who have been passed over for promotions and those who are negotiating a severance agreement. She also handles real estate closings.

Aside from her professional accolades, Chiquita is devoted to philanthropic work, always with a legal focus. Chiquita spends her spare time educating youth on their legal rights through her non-profit, Whatever It Takes Scholars, LLC. She also serves as an adjunct professor in the legal writing department at a local law school. Chiquita is a Chicago Employment Law Attorney that is passionate about helping to diversify the legal profession and Illinois’ workforce. She is actively involved in NELA-Illinois Legislative Committee and its efforts to introduce bills to protect employees’ rights along side other Illinois Employment Law Attorneys.

Chiquita received a B.A. in Political Science-Public Law, with a minor in Communication Studies, from Northern Illinois University. She earned a J.D. from Southern University Law Center where she served as SULC’s Law Clinic Extern and studied abroad in International Criminal Law and Constitutional Law. In addition, she worked as a mediator at the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office. Prior to hanging her shingle, she worked at the Cook County’s State’s Attorney as a Law Clerk and interned at various law firms in Chicago. Chiquita is registered to practice in the State of Illinois.
