Whistleblowing or retaliation usually occurs when an employee exercises their rights in the workplace or with a third-party agency. This can include retaliation for complaining internally and externally about discrimination, harassment, workplace safety, or unpaid wages and/or overtime.
Retaliatory acts include termination, failure to promote, demotions, suspensions, and pay decreases. Retaliation can also include harassment or bullying designed to persuade other employees from making complaints or taking action against an employer.
If you have experienced retaliation in your workplace or have blown the whistle, please do not hesitate to contact our Chicago office.
